DO YOU LOVE GREY? WEDNESDAYS 6 PM
PART 2 SERIES 7
Yes! we did! We because we were both hit by the tornado. Our
finance suffered; it dived into an
all-time low.
There were days we scavenged the nearby bushes for
vegetables.
We even used the unoccupied land beside us to farm – this
supplemented our growing family.
The best decision I made was to finish my schooling amidst
my marital troubles.
A respected friend advised me not to quit when I wanted to
stay back home to monitor his adulterous ways.
I didn’t tell you this before, but during my teenage years a
palmist stared at my hands and foretold that I will marry twice…
My young mind rejected this and I vowed I will never do
that.
This was one of the reasons why I stayed in the hell called my marriage.
I remember one year in particular after having had another
fight with my husband,
I moved out of our home at the new residence and rented
another apartment in the same village.
We stayed apart for almost a month; but I later went back.
Lol…
Our church pastor didn’t stop pestering me to move back.
A time came, I
started hawking drugs and giving
treatments in different villages . Later on,
I became known for my expertise in midwifery. People trooped in for one
treatment or the other.
My hard work paid off and together with my husband I opened
a small clinic.
Oh! I forgot to tell you my kid sister moved to the new
location with us.
Soon I became popular and was nicknamed the mother of my kid
sister – 'Mama Abidemi'.
Everyone thought she was my first child; she was quite the troublesome one.
Mama Abidemi's nursing prowess skyrocketed! News spread like wild fire and till today,
amidst different competitors, fake
hospitals and traditional homes,
My clinic still has the best reputation, till date.
James never stopped his adulterous ways, and his work never
revived.
He kept giving different excuses for not getting another job
He started and failed on different businesses, I supported
him in all, besides he was still my husband.
In the 22 years of my marriage to James, I was the financial burden
bearer for 17 years. I even bought him cars when he 'wanted' them.
He never allowed his friends to know his financial
disability, he lorded our home and children with an authoritative and
domineering hand, the true 'African man'.
At least , he trained the kids the best way he knew how to, I also supported.
Life will always give you hits, but will you run and hide friend or will you stand upright on your knees and fight. Till next episode friend...
