THE UNKNOWN PATH
“ No mountain is endless, some are more steeped than
others…..” Elijah Mikealson.
It is generally
agreed that whatever has a beginning has an end and sometimes that end always
leads to another beginning. This is one of the reasons human beings live with
the uncertainty as to what step to take next. There is always the feeling of
dread and misgivings when one embarks on a new adventure; metaphorically or
figuratively.
Even the aged with all their experience in life still
experience this same feeling especially those who believe in life after death.
Same goes for the young ones about to start life all on their own and those who
have embarked on daunting projects and have no idea which way it will go.
The truth is that all of us in life want to grow and
forge ahead; we must take unfamiliar paths for us to succeed and even with much
planning, it may not be enough. The end we get is always different from what we
imagined; either it’s far better or much worse, but one must always undertake
unknown journeys and in doing so, we must be able to have experience which we
can use for the unknown journey.
We must also understand that all these journeys are
part of our life’s existence; therefore succeeding and failing enables us to
grow, reduces our fear of uncertainty and trepidation and increases our
confidence in succeeding no matter the obstacles we may encounter. Also even
when we fail, we must realize that there will be another path for us to
explore, another opportunity to succeed and another chance to learn - even in
old age.
Just like Nelson Mandela in his book Long Walk to
Freedom, "For my long walk is not yet done".
Therefore, everyone who is faced with so many unknown
paths must understand that whatever path he undertakes, he will surely gain
whether he succeeds or fails.
