AN INTERESTING TIME OUT WITH JOHN

Akwa ibom ayaya… some years ago I was opportune to serve my great nation in the council for arts and culture, Uyo, Akwa ibom state. That year was one memorable one. Couldn’t have asked for a better NYSC. Today, I have the previledge of sharing a discourse with one of the sons of the akwa ubom soil and I hope you enjoy the gist.

Sandra T. Adeyeye: How would you like to be introduced?

John: My name is John Henry John. A film director, an akwa ibomite by birth and a Christian.

Sandra T. Adeyeye: Great. Did you study theatre arts?

John: I studied Computer Science

Sandra T. Adeyeye: How long have you been practicing?

John: 5 years now

Sandra T. Adeyeye: Do you do stage or screen productions?

John: Screen productions.

Sandra T. Adeyeye: What's the difference and their challenges?

John: Stage is more tasking for the actors and less tasking for the crew while the reverse is the case in screen productions from my research.

Sandra T. Adeyeye: If you could go back in time, is there anything you would do differently? (Do you regret being a thespian and would you change it if you could?)

John: I'm happy to be a creative mind and a filmmaker.

Sandra T. Adeyeye: Now to the quick questions. What's your favorite play text?

John: Things fall apart

Sandra T. Adeyeye: Who's your favorite playwright?

John: Chinua Achebe

Sandra T. Adeyeye: Who's your favorite actor, director, dop/lightsman, costumier and set designer?

John: I love creative people so it will b a long list if I'm to mention them now but let me mention Emmanuel Eyo (Kufreima) because he's so creative and humble. The best director that has ever come from Nigeria

Sandra T. Adeyeye: Are you a member of any body governing performance in Nigeria?

John: Yea...DGN (Directors Guild of Nigeria) and ANMD (Association of Nollywood Movie Directors)

Sandra T. Adeyeye: And your last words to NiWco readers.

John: Keep up the good work. I'll b glad to support in any angle subsequently.

Sandra T. Adeyeye: Thank you for your time.
