THE LIFE’S ETHICS: ALWAYS MOVING FORWARD

“In this life, we only go forward not backward”
– Legend of the Seeker

When I remember this quote from the series, I recall the events surrounding it and they were not favorable in anyway. Even the victory at the end of the first episode was at great cost, but still, Richard cipher, the seeker of truth knew that staying in one place was not the solution to defeating the dreaded evil at that time.

The above quote should serve as a propeller to us in our everyday life as we must not stay rooted in one spot if we are to develop, grow and progress in life. Like a songwriter said “Footprints in the sands of time, they were not made by sitting down…”, this is to enlighten us that we must always move forward and be ready to encounter risks, face challenges and maneuver seemingly insurmountable difficulties.

We may not realize it, but one major answer to life’s questions is to keep moving. This is relatively in all spheres of life and is not just secluded to life’s troubles. Imagine working in a place where one makes money, but he doesn’t get happiness or peace.

Most people might not see it that way, but that individual needs to move. Moving forward doesn’t just mean making decisions and executing them aimlessly.  It means pausing for a moment, making plans and taking inventory of the stock you need as you continue progressing.

Everyone in the world is/are sometimes afraid of making the difficult decision to move forward. The most successful people in the world feel so unmotivated and confuse at times, the things which we want most may seem out of reach no matter what we do and the people who have experienced a terrible loss of loved ones or consistent failure. At this point, it seems staying in what people termed “the comfort zone” is better. It is not because a “comfort zone” is an illusion.

The dynamics of this world never lets anyone enjoy his comfortability, there is always a loophole, a setback and eventually your comfort zone will become worthless. Moving forward is therefore the only way out and in this case coerced and harder, because there was no plan or preparation for it.

As Marianne Williamson puts it “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us……. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

This means that we are unconsciously role models to people who are looking for a beacon of hope. Therefore we can’t motivate and mentor them and ourselves if we remain in one spot. So get up and move. Start the revolution you like to see and you invariably become that beacon of hope.
