Where I was birthed
I was birthed in a community where children were given birth to at home. I was birthed in a community, where fathers drank and came home to beat their wives. I was birthed in a community where girls gave birth without husbands and dumped their babies under their mother's care.
I was birthed in a community where drug addiction was a thing of joy, a facade and another way of life. A completion of drugs and sentimental way of life. I was birthed in a community where crime was an every minute thing. One minute they killed, the other minute life was hell.
I was birthed in a community where virginity was a taboo! Who would claim to be one? it was a sign of immaturity, cause for embarrassment and everlasting trips of guilt, making one think virginity was a disease.
Oh! Where I was birthed.
Oh! Where I was birthed.
I was birthed in a community where churches and mosques are every where; freelance poets rule the world but sin is not far from the lives of the people. I think when they were suppose to be building the people, buildings were being built. Now, various lives were tampered with. What a world!
I was birthed in a community where education meant nothing to the people. Education? That was a suicidal journey! I was birthed in a community where fighting and killing was the norm and culture of the people. I was birthed in a community where children hawked with pride. I was birthed in a community where the night time was the right time to hatch their promiscuous acts. I was birthed in a community where early stage sex was like a ludo game... oh that was their way of life. I was birthed in a community, where stealing was an every day party. I was birthed in a community where corruption was our bedrock, but in that same community where I was birthed, we have truthful lawyers, trail blazers, Incorrupt leaders, selfless people, role models. Among these, I find myself. I planned my life like I was the sailor of my boat. I chose not to be like them and for the first time in my life, I was happy. I am happy because I made a life, A beautiful one at that. I dreamt and it came to pass.
My future is not at stake because I planned and sorted all.
My future is not at stake because I planned and sorted all.
That is my society. The society where I was birthed. But I chose not to be like them. I am different. I am making a life. A wonderful one specifically!
