TOLU'S DIARY

EVERY TUESDAYS 10AM

Hi diary,
I'm here again this time with an advice
Get the town crier,
Alert the neighborhood of this meeting
It's time to revive our dying culture and heritage
Our tool must be well sharpened
To have a great harvest like days of old
Let's stick to our rich heritage and originality,
That fetched us the Nobel prize and Man Booker
Where Okonkwo was the hero and not Olsson;
The village square was in picture and not Madison square;
Amadioha watched proceedings and not CCTV camera;
Indigenes of Akure says 'ebo-afin' to the Kabiyesi rather than what's up;
Where you feel like sipping the palmy in context rather than unrealized champagne;
Where the old Ogbomosho tortoise comes to play and not an owl from Woolwich;
The Iroko tree stands tall and not statue of liberty;
Empress Zainab rode on her horse 🐴 from the Emirates to fight enemies;
Oba Ukpolokpolor sheds light on the beauty of his ancestral throne;
Argungu fishing festival so real that the end never came;
Eyo masquerade of Eko turn up for the party on the Island.
Let's start by using our indigenous names rather than going foreign;
Let's make the Chinese feel like residing here;
Australians quoting the Alaafin like reciting their national anthem;
Let show our rich cultural heritage to the whole world
It begins with me and you
Please ponder on this
"Get me some water from the earthen pot,
another day, I'll tell tales under the moonlight"
Love you all.
